For any environment or equipment that requires an aseptic work area or process, it is critical there is no contamination that may negatively impact the process or product being worked with. Often wipe-down procedures or the use of UV lighting are not effective in eliminating the source of the contamination. When a contamination is not easily remedied, a more effective means of decontamination is required.

CEM offers a solution to those persistent, difficult to remedy contamination sources. No matter if you have 1 small piece of equipment or a large research lab or suite of rooms, CEM can successfully provide the decontamination services for your facility. Listed below are some of the devices or areas we have successfully decontaminated.

An effective way of combating the presence of microbial or fungi contamination is to expose the area to a gas or vapor that has a proven history of neutralizing even the worst type of contamination. CEM currently offers the following decontamination services.

Chlorine Dioxide Gas(ClO²)

Chlorine dioxide (ClO²) has become the decontamination agent of choice for many of our customers. Using ClO² can provide benefits in comparison to some of the more traditional methods for decontamination. The time needed to complete the decontamination (start to finish) can be much less with less residual to clean-up afterwards. This may be critical to a facility in which minimizing equipment downtime is essential.

CEM is authorized service provider of the ClorDiSys generator delivery system for ClO². All decontaminations using ClO² are executed in accordance with CEM SOPs and ClorDiSys recommended procedures.

Where applicable, biological indicators may be placed in the work area to verify the effectiveness of the decontamination.

Formaldehyde Gas (CH²O)

Formaldehyde gas (CH²O) has been an effective decontamination agent for many years. It has a proven history of neutralizing a wide range of unwanted bacteria and fungi contamination.

All decontamination services using formaldehyde are executed in accordance with CEM SOPs and NIH/CDC guidelines.

Where applicable, biological indicators may be placed in the work area to verify the effectiveness of the decontamination.
